Combining technology and high-level coaching, these small-group classes are one of the best ways to be trained! With classes for all levels and the ability to meet in person or virtually, there will be an option that works for you!

Novice: TUE - 6:00-7:00 PM

500-1000 USCF: TUE - 8:00-9:00 PM

1000+ USCF: THU - 8:00-9:00 PM

About the Coach:

Jonathan Rasberry is a husband and father who now makes chess teaching his full-time occupation! He has coached chess since 2015, leading many students to win Alabama scholastic championships. Two of his students have won a national girls’ team championship. Jonathan is a three-time state chess champion himself whose peak rating is over 2100.

The best chess learning uses computer and internet technology. BUT…the best place to practice chess and interact with your coach is in person. We are combining both with these lessons!!

Format:

• 15 mins of puzzle solving

• 35 mins of main lesson material

• 10-20 mins of gameplay with a classmate

• 12 seats total: 6 In-Person & 6 Virtual Seats MAX

In-Person Option:

Learn chess at the source! Classes held at Coach Rasberry’s home are simply the best option you can get! We have a big-screen monitor to display our teaching materials, draw arrows and highlight squares to direct the students where to focus, and much more quickly zoom between positions we’re teaching. Oh yeah…and we have physical boards to play games on!! In-person classes include the best learning, most interactive, and most user-friendly perks of any class all with only 5 others in the room with the coach.

Virtual Option:

While the downsides of having to use a computer proficiently and not having access to a 3D board are real, especially for the youngest of students, there is the convenience of being able to stay home! Virtual students will be able to see the same screen I share, be able to ask questions, and play a game with a classmate all as with our in-person students. The maximum number of virtual students who can join a class is also limited to 6.

Monthly Class Pricing:

• In-Person Seat: $95

• Virtual Seat: $75

Note: We do NOT follow the school calendar. Classes will be held on “teacher work days,” minor holidays, and during breaks!

Parents will be able to stay with their children and have access to warmth, wi-fi, and water! We have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating as you might need.
